Match the Audience’s Energy

Splice it up, loop it mix up segments and create a whole new, long, danceable song that your audiences will surely love. But what do you do when the song is too long? Don’t expect dancers to be too happy about it. The main reason for partying is getting to socialize with as many people as possible—too long a dance will prevent dancers from switching partners or circulating among themselves. The rule of thumb is to cut anything that spills over the three-minute mark and slowly fade into the next tune.

Techno music is something that is so wonderful and so glorious that it almost cannot be really explained. That is okay to me, because I do not need an explanation to tell you that I love techno. The entire genre of techno really began to take its shape in the 1980s along with electronic dance music. In fact it was the year 1988 that the word techno was very first used. Then in the 1990s it grew even more to reach great heights and sounds. There is no greater feeling than blasting some serious techno from your speakers and just enjoying the awesomeness that comes from it. Techno is great for when you are driving along in your car or even hanging with friends, and it is especially great for dancing. -When you are driving around, it is most likely that you want to have some awesome music playing on your car stereo so you can rock out. Techno is pretty much the greatest music ever for doing just that. Not only is it just great music, but if you are feeling a bit sleepy behind the wheel the strong beat will definitely keep you wide awake. -Alone in your car is not the only place to enjoy techno. I mean when you and your friends are sitting around trying to figure out what it is that you want to do, then just turn on and turn up some techno. That is sure to take a lame and boring night and turn it into something exciting and unbelievable. -Lastly, if you love to dance then techno is the musical genre for you. There is no need to have to find the beat, because the techno beat will definitely find you. That is probably why most clubs play techno. They want you to dance and party the night away with amazing sounds and music flowing around you in the club. College graduation is a memorable experience. After four or five grueling years of study, we are finally about to exit our university and face the real world. Needless to say, this calls for a celebration! During the assembly, I was tasked to spearhead the committee on souvenirs for our batch’s graduation ball and upon my suggestion, the organizing team agreed to order custom koozies as souvenirs for our celebration.
I sought the help of the creative courses to help me design the custom koozies for production. After the design has been approved, I immediately submitted it to the manufacturer for production. The custom koozies were delivered just on time. During the preparation, I wanted to add spice to the celebration so I suggested to the committee if we can give each graduate a can of beer wrapped in these custom koozies to make it appear fun and creative.
On the night of the celebration, everyone was thrilled when they were given a can of beer wrapped in custom koozies containing the logo of our school and our batch. Furthermore, I modified the color of each koozie so as to give each department a different color from the others. It was definitely fun and we ended the night with a blast!

A Brief Introduction to Silent Diso

Silent disco should not be confused with quiet party. It has gained popularity over the recent years, however, the idea has already been around for quite sometime. Basically, this type of event allows people to dance in headphones. Rather than using the traditional speakers, people gathering in this kind of event will be dancing in headphones. The music is transmitted via wireless headphones. It is broadcasted through a FM transmitter and the signal is picked up by the wireless headphones that are worn by the participants. Those who are not wearing headphones won’t be able to hear anything, hence the name silent disco. It would appear as if the participants are dancing to nothing.

Mobile clubbing is a similar event wherein people gather in one unconventional location to dance to music while wearing their portable music players. These flash mob gatherings temporarily transform public spaces into clubbing areas, where hundreds of people are usually involved.

Invitation for mobile clubbing and silent disco events are disseminated through mass emails, social networking (i.e. Facebook and Myspace) or through the word of mouth.

Another variant of such kind of event is the silent gig wherein live bands are involved. The bands will be competing in front of an audience. They will be using electric instruments that are connected to a transmitter, instead of an amplifier. Without the headphones, the only sound that can be heard is the light tapping from the electric drums as well as the vocals of the lead singer.

As music went digital, sharing and broadcasting became easier. The first digital music was presented in the form of Audio CDs with file size of a five minute song typically being around 50 MB. MP3 file format was introduced later to decrease the file size without apparent loss in sound quality. MP3 files are ten times smaller than Audio Cd files. The Mp3 revolution made distribution and downloading of music even easier. This opened up a whole new market for artists and music companies and it is universally acknowledged that the future of music is online.

While not all genres of music can adapt well to the online scene, pop and techno are well suited to it. Genres such as rock, country and jazz still sound best in analog format. For most listeners though, the difference is not really very noticeable, it is only true audiophiles who can notice the difference in quality. Techno music uses computer generated sounds heavily, thus what the listeners get to hear in digital format is almost exactly what the artist intended the listener to hear.

Sensing a change in trend of music market, many artists have started releasing their albums online, along with traditional Audio CDs. The music can be purchased online as an entire album or individual songs. This is one of the benefits of buying music online – one has the option to buy only the songs that he or she likes and not have to pay for the entire album. The Beginnings Of Electronica

The origins of electronica can be traced to early 1980s when artists from Detroit, such as Underground Resistance and Juan Atkins, improvised techno music to broaden its scope. Earlier, techno was restricted only to dance floors and clubs, but with the rise of electronica, the music started ranging from easy listening to hardcore techno. The term ‘electronica’ was actually coined by the press to describe any type of music that used electronic equipment and electronic instruments. With the dawn of 90s, electronica started becoming popular even across the Atlantic when Europeans started taking notice.

There are many sub-genres of electronica that can be broadly classified as: Ambient, Experimental and Hardcore Techno. All these styles of electronica were being developed independently in the Europe, especially the United Kingdom, and the United States. The ambient techno was oriented towards home listening or lounge music while Hardcore Techno, notably drum n’ bass / jungle, was intended mostly for dance floors. Experimental techno is a loose term to describe neo-techno music which was techno at heart but much more abstract than the other forms. Notable artists that influenced these sub genre are: Ambient – Biosphere and B12, Experimental – Bisk and Freeform, Hardcore Techno – Goldie, Roni Size.

In the 1990s the United Kingdom’s electronica scene was dominated by The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. They made such a big influence on mainstream musicians that artists such as Madonna, from the United States, and Danii Minogue, from Australia, infused electronica elements into their music. Even international rock bands like U2, Radiohead, R.E.M and Oasis produced at least one Electonica album during that period. With Electonica entering the mainstream music, many music labels started promoting the music of this genre. Notable labels, mainly American, that promoted electronica in 1990s include Astralwerks, City of Angels, Sims and Moonshine.

Hip-hop music has always had some electronic sounds or samples as accompaniment. It was only natural that by late 1990s hip-hop music was heavily influenced by electonica, and it continues to be so. The initial success of G-funk rap and Dr Dre in the mid 1990s gave rise to many hip-hop producers who used synthesized sounds and vocals, electronic beats, and samples in their songs. The 2000s saw this trend getting popularized with artists such as Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake gaining widespread popularity. Another noticeable trend was the use of electonica as background score for advertisements and video games. The Wipeout video game series in particular featured many electronica tracks. Thus electronica has evolved and diversified, influencing other music genres and also made its way into background music of choice for video games.
